Client: Westmount Community League
Delivered Product: Local history stories that “documented the past” of a century-old Edmonton neighbourhood. Fifteen short ‘histories’ of different aspects of the neighbourhood were researched and written in a format that is appealing to a wide audience. Also project-managed entire initiative (involving liaison with local artist and community league, as well as securing grant funding, and arranging logistics of launch event)
Process: Completed historical research (archives, oral histories, museum research, etc.) resulting in raw material for documenting various aspects of the neighbourhood’s past. Writing of historical ‘vignettes’ of 500-700 words for publication / display.
Outcome: Two dozen framed stories that ‘documented the past, and archived the present’ of one of Edmonton’s oldest neighbourhoods. Frames are to be displayed in the Westmount Community League. Stories have also been published (on-line) as a series in conjunction with the Westglen History Project.
